At presentation level MTX comes up with a WebGIS application that represents the monitoring stations on the map according to their geographical location. Each station is identified by a specific icon whose appearance is dynamically changed according to its state of operation.
The application allows the access of operators, from local or remote workstations (LAN/internet), to the realtime representation of the measurements and diagnostic information, to the consultation and analysis of historical data, as well as to the validation functionality.
The home page contains an overview of the representation features in order to give the user an immediate insight into the status of the network, both in terms of data collection as well as the diagnostics of the field equipment.
The collected data can be represented in different ways: tabular, graphical, thematic. Data representation can be fully configured by the user also for the scope of comparison. Moreover, representations are available for isovalues (isotherms, isobars, isohyets, ..) obtained by interpolation techniques of collected measurements and for the distribution of wind speed and direction (wind rose).
The application is an important tool for the monitoring activities on the purposes of Civil Protection. The system integrates alerting features which can be activated - automatically or upon authorization of an operator – on the occurrence of critical situations. These situations can be detected directly by the field equipment or indirectly through the comparison of the collected data with the threshold values.
Finally, we emphasize the characteristics of the application like open source, modularity and scalability, which permit the integration of other monitoring networks and the inter-operability with external systems.
